Curatorial Statement
The community of Harold Washington College, by nature of its attachment to the physical geographic location of the college itself, exists within the built urban environment. Architecture, as defined by the Merriam-Webster Dictionary as “the art or science of building” is an essential, if often overlooked, aspect of living in the built urban environment. Beyond this, architecture is an essential part of the human experience. Living in, working in, occupying or moving through spaces designed by architects is part of everyday city life. For this exhibition, works from the permanent collection highlighting architecture from Chicago and beyond, in various states and through various methods of artistic production.
