Sara Roberts, Green Vessel, Yarn, Tulle, Crystal Beads, Resin Rhinestones, 2025
This is the first creation in my Vessel series, where I explore how much I can push yarn as a sculptural medium. The outer casting appears as a calcified shell, housing a soft and playful tulle interior filled with sparkling gems. The result is an oxymoronic structure that is both whimsical and formidable.

Artist Bio:
Sara Roberts attended California State University Fullerton, graduating with a BFA in Sculpture and a BA in American Studies in 2017. She became an artist-in-residence at the Torpedo Factory in Alexandria, Virginia in 2018, where she further explored what has now become her artistic emphasis: fiber sculptures.
After completing this residency, Sara moved back to California and accepted the Art Studio Lab Manager position for Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles. She continued her artistic practice, exhibiting at galleries in both Orange County and Los Angeles, as well as fostering her love for working in higher education.
Seeking a change of scenery, Sara set her sights on Chicago in 2022 and accepted a position as a Lab Assistant for the Art Department at Harold Washington College. She remains prolific in her artistic practice, continuing to push the boundaries of fiber art and notions of womanhood.
