Connie Wolfe, Influx (1), Screenprint, 2022
In my time outdoors, I am inspired by the subtleties, colors and textures in natural environments that typically go unnoticed. The resulting art becomes a response to getting lost in the complexity that nature presents. Organic shapes and tonal structures transform these realities into obscured identities through abstraction, isolation and enlargement in my work.
Influx (1) is one of four limited edition fine art prints that illustrate stills of the way light and shadow dances on Lake Michigan on a slightly windy day. I took photographs in quick succession to capture the subtle shifts in movement of the water going back and forth and how the sunlight dramatically changed each second. The photos were then broken down into simplified shapes to make silkscreen stencils. Nineteen layers of transparent ink were printed reductively on light blue paper to make this piece.

Wake (1) is one of three limited edition fine art prints depicting the movement of water captured from the wake of a motor-boat on Lake Michigan. The sparkling droplets of water against the displacement are what mesmerized me about the phenomenon. Sixteen layers of transparent blue inks were printed reductively on white paper for this piece.
