Curatorial Statement
An image from the camera of an old, handheld game console; a posed photograph; a photo of a photo, displayed on a computer screen; a sideways glance as someone snapped a picture; a drawing that seems to capture the essence of a person as if they are looking through mist; illustrations and watercolors of families and communities spending time together; figurative oil paintings. Through a wide range of media, each of these artworks reveal a glimpse of the people within them. By artists, faculty, alumni, and students, this is a portrait show from the Harold Washington College permanent collection.
